Is there a way to introduce two dogs by using a dog crate?

I’m familiar with one way to introduce dogs to each other by walking them together, but is there a way to introduce a new dog to a house with dogs by using a crate? I don’t actually know if there’s a way, just wondering. Any other advice on introducing dogs OR crate training welcome.

Sure you CAN, but I WOULDN’T. If a dog is territorial, that’s only going to create barrier issues with a new dog.

Always introduce on NEUTRAL territory, away from the home, like at a park or something. Walk together at a distance, gradually getting closer. Walk butt-to-face, never do a face-to-face introduction.

take the dogs to a room only one at a time to meet the new dog each with a leash so if thing get out of hand they can be held back. don’t over whelm the new one just be care full it may take a while for all of them to adjust.

There’s no way that introducing dogs via crate would work; it would stress them both out too much and would likely cause more aggression. Assuming what you have in mind is having one dog in the crate and one out, the dog in the crate would feel extremely threatened and they wouldn’t be able to be affectively introduced.

It’s best to introduce two dogs on long, loose leashes, and after the initial greet, to have them walk together side-by-side.
